Dozens of people have been killed and injured overnight after shelling bombarded the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, the general staff of Ukraine's armed forces said on Sunday. The city has been repeatedly targeted in recent weeks and is located in the Ukrainian-controlled part of a region that Vladimir Putin annexed in violation of international law last week. Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko said Russia had launched 10 missiles in the city overnight. City council Secretary Anatoliy Kurtev said at least five private houses were destroyed and around 40 were damaged by the missile strikes.

At least twelve people have been killed and more than 80 injured after a Russian attack on a residential neighbourhood in Zaporizhzhia, in south east Ukraine.
