Robert De Niro Embraces Human Rights Violator Diaz Canel in New York City

While MIguel Diaz Canel signed Gag Decree Law 349 censoring independent artists/turning art into a crime in Cuba, ordering the persecution and arbitrary arrest of artists in a series of recent crackdowns, he engages in a double standard by visiting New York City and meeting with Robert De Niro and a group of artists, philanthropists and cultural promoters. De Niro repeated Diaz Canel's speech about "cultural bridges and dialogue" without prior research on the repression of artists in the island.
Also attending to the event: producer and executive director of the Tribeca Film Festival Jane Rosenthal, Katie Holmes, Alex, and Carol Rosenberg, founders and organizers of the Havana Film Festival in New York City.
