My message to Mr Conan O'Brien. By Alberto Gutiérrez Barbero.
Dear Mr Conan O'Brien.- I reviewed the video result of your trip to Havana and it didn't surprise me a bit, because one thing is to act properly and another is a nonsensical effort to be funny under such paltry circumstances.
On top of that since the very beginning of the video I noticed a bias and a veiled propaganda. You correctly mentioned the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship that ended in 1959. However there was not even a word about the Castro tyranny, so far 56 years! of oppression, thievery, backwardness, and much more in Havana and the rest of Cuba sunk into the abysm.
Besides, while strolling along the dire poverty of entire blocks falling apart in Havana, you only "dared" to say hopelessly concise that in Cuba there are many social and political problems. Big deal! For sure that city is not a ballroom. And by the way, the cameras filming your dancing -?- were not aimed at least for a second towards the execution wall at La Cabaña fortress. The sinister and tragic place where thousands of Cubans have been executed during the last five decades.
Of course, your tour to one of the many prisons or any other repressive den that belong to the Cuban Gulag was out of question. There was time to intermingle your performance with a few barking dogs, but not a single watchdog of the tyranny appeared defined in any section of the video. You also complimented the meal at a so- called "paladar", instead of going to a regular home or to a hospital in order to verify what is the real food the Cuban people daily endure with no other choice. Dante's Inferno for instance is nothing compared with the horrible situation in the hospitals, insane asylums, hospices, orphanages, etc. along Cuba. A nation that is "a power in the field of medicine" according to the castroist lies very well accepted everywhere.
For many years Pinar del Río, the westernmost province of Cuba, was the land of the best tobacco in the world. And yet I disaprove your casual advertisement of the cigar manufacturing, that without free enterprise is controlled by the castroist assassins and thieves. Cuba was also once the leading producer of sugar cane with more than 160 sugar mills. Today that sugar industry is in shambles due to the mismanagement and robbery of the tyranny. Perhaps this is the reason why your video arranged with the approval of "Seguridad del Estado" didn't include a mere view of a cane field.
In conclusion sectors of the US media hailed your good for nothing presence in Havana as the first US talk show host in Cuba since 1959. So what? There will be better times and genuine warm greetings the day Cuba is free from tyranny.
